Queue-Based Time Model
A time model constructed of measurable chunks of time, called turns, which can be compared and ordered. Turns have a start and an end, and can be used to measure other phenomena in the model.
This model is named after the priority queue which can be used to keep track of turn ordering. Each action a character takes has an associated recovery time, which moves the character to a new location in the queue. Characters that are fast or use actions with a short recovery time can get more turns (and therefore actions) when compared to slower characters.
(Is this a newer model, compared to turn-based and real time?)
Diagnostics
- A visual depiction of the queue (a dead giveaway)
- A haste mechanic that actually allows the character to act more frequently
(Examples to make pages for: Earthlock, Doom & Destiny, Battlechasers: Nightwar, and Queen’s Wish.)
